Our StackCP Migration Centre aims to simplify and automate the process of moving your sites to our platform. However, migrations can sometimes encounter issues that prevent successful transfers. Below are some common errors and how to resolve them to ensure a smooth migration.
cPanel Migrations #
Our cPanel migration tool uses the default backup facility within cPanel to generate and move a full account backup, which is then converted into a package on our side.
Common Error: Migration idling at ‘Waiting for cPanel Backup’.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
- Account Over Quota or Suspended: Ensure the account isn’t over quota or suspended to allow the backup process to proceed.
- Firewall Blocking Outbound Connections: Check that the server’s firewall allows outbound connections, particularly to the IP range 45.8.227.0/24.
- High Server Load: If the cPanel server has a high load, it might throttle the backup process. Check the server’s load and wait for it to reduce.
- Large Site: Large sites can take longer to back up. Wait until the process completes.
Plesk Migrations #
Our Plesk migration tool uses the Plesk API to request a backup, which is then moved via FTP, extracted, and imported.
Common Error: Migration failing right away.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
- API Access: Ensure Plesk API access is enabled. Contact your current host to confirm this.
- Backup Process: Make sure there is enough space for a backup and that our IPs (45.8.227.0/24) are whitelisted.
WordPress FTP Migrations #
The following conditions should be met for the WordPress FTP migration tool to work:
Common Error: Migration failure.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
- wp-config.php File Location: Ensure the wp-config.php file is in the correct directory with the core WordPress files.
- Permissions: File and directory permissions should follow WordPress best practices (directories set to 755 and files set to 644).
- IP Whitelisting: Ensure the IP range 45.8.227.0/24 is whitelisted.
- Correct Domain Name Pointing: Ensure the domain name points to the correct web host.
Heart Internet Migrations #
Migrating from Heart Internet requires Reseller API access. The API generates the necessary backups for your site transfer.
Common Error: Migration fails immediately after entering details.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
- API Access: Ensure you have sufficient API access. Contact Heart Internet support to confirm this.
