Migrating from Heart Internet to StackCP Hosting #

Migrating from Heart Internet to CP CLOUD HOSTING’s scalable platform using StackCP is quick and easy with our Migration Centre. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Log in to StackCP:
    • Go to your StackCP dashboard.
  2. Start a Migration:
    • Select “Start a Migration.”
  3. Select Heart Internet:
    • Choose Heart Internet from the list and click “Next.”
  4. Enter Credentials:
    • Enter your API Username and Password.
    • Click “Next Step.”
Note: Access your Heart Internet Reseller API from this URL: customer.heartinternet.uk/manage/api. On the “Reseller API” page, find your details under “Your Full Login Details.”
  5. Select Packages:
    • You’ll see a list of all your hosting packages within Heart Internet.
    • Select the packages you want to migrate and click “Migrate.”
  6. Monitor Migration Status:
    • Go to “Migrations Overview” in StackCP at any time to see the status of your migration.
    • You’ll be notified when it’s successfully completed.
  7. View Migrated Content:
    • Once the migration status is updated to ‘Complete,’ go to “Manage Hosting” to view your website and emails.

Mailboxes #

Heart Internet restricts Resellers from changing mailbox passwords through their Reseller Control Centre, which affects the Migration Centre’s ability to fetch mailboxes and passwords. To migrate mailbox data, use the Email Migration tool:

  • Navigate to:
    • Manage Hosting -> Manage -> Email Migration
    • Enter the mailbox passwords to queue and start the migration.

DNS Records #

Note: The Migration Centre does not transfer DNS records. By default, DNS records will be configured to point all services to CP CLOUD HOSTING’s services, such as mail and FTP.

For example, if you use Office365 or Gmail, ensure to replace our standard MX records with Office365/Gmail DNS records to avoid mail service interruptions.

Final Steps #

After migrating websites, databases, and email, update your domain names:

  1. Transfer Domain Names:
    • Go to “Transfer a Domain” in the Migration Centre.
    • Enter the domain name(s) you want to transfer, confirm them, and complete the checkout.
    • Monitor progress from Migration Centre > Pending Domain Transfers.

Note: DNS propagation typically takes an hour but can take up to 24 hours.

  1. Update Nameservers:
    • If not transferring the domain, update your nameservers with your current domain registrar to:
      • ns1.stackdns.com
      • ns2.stackdns.com
      • ns3.stackdns.com
      • ns4.stackdns.com
    • If your registrar doesn’t support 4 nameservers, add as many as possible. Propagation can take up to 48 hours but is usually faster.

Important #

Backups: You can never have too many backups! Before deleting any data from your old hosting company, back it up on a separate physical device or in cloud storage. You can also download your data at any time via StackCP.
