CDN Statistics #

Understanding the traffic and requests accessing your sites is crucial for optimizing performance and ensuring a smooth user experience. With the free StackCP CDN from CP CLOUD HOSTING, you gain valuable insights through detailed data sets and charts, giving you a comprehensive view of your site’s performance.

Accessing Site Statistics #

You can access the statistics for each site you host directly from the package overview page in your StackCP account:

  1. Navigate to Manage Hosting
  2. Select the package you wish to view the statistics for by clicking Manage
  3. Select Statistics

You’ll be presented with the CDN Statistics overview, with an option to switch to the Traffic Distribution view.

Key Metrics #

  • Total Bandwidth: The amount of data (in bytes) sent through the StackCP CDN to the client. This is split between data served from the origin server (uncached bandwidth) and from the CDN nodes (cached bandwidth).
  • Total Hits: The number of files and sessions transferred using the CDN network. This metric differs from ‘unique visitors’.

You can filter these statistics by a specific time period using the toggles at the top-right of each section.

Traffic Distribution #

The statistics also provide a geographic overview of incoming requests to your site. You can toggle this view between Last Hour, Last Day, and Last Week. Hover over a country to see figures for that location.

Understanding the Statistics #

The data captured and processed by StackCP has the following characteristics:

  • All metrics reflect HTTP traffic captured through the StackCP CDN network.
  • StackCP does not process HTTP traffic for unproxied web hosts.
  • The originating country is determined using the IP address associated with each request.

Apparent Data Discrepancies #

It’s possible that your StackCP metrics will not fully align with data reported by other sources such as Google Analytics. This discrepancy occurs because:

  • StackCP identifies a unique hostname for a request and matches it with all registered server aliases for that hostname/domain, possibly resulting in higher request counts.
  • Google Analytics uses JavaScript to track visitors, missing threats, bots, and automated crawlers that don’t trigger JavaScript.

Total Bandwidth #

  • Total Bandwidth: The sum of bytes served by StackCP’s CDN network.
  • Cached Bandwidth: Bandwidth for requests served from StackCP CDN Cache.
  • Uncached Bandwidth: Bandwidth for requests served directly from the backend server.

Total Hits #

  • Total Hits: Total number of requests captured by StackCP’s CDN network.
  • Cached Hits: Requests served from StackCP CDN Cache.
  • Uncached Hits: Requests served directly from the backend server.

SSL Hits vs Non-SSL Hits #

This graph shows the number of requests encrypted via the HTTPS protocol versus the unencrypted HTTP protocol. Aim to ensure that as many requests as possible are made over HTTPS. This can be achieved using a 301 redirect, WordPress plugin, or ensuring the WordPress site and home URL use HTTPS. You’ll also need an SSL certificate, which can be applied for free from within the hosting package.

HTTP Successful Requests vs Error Requests #

  • Successful Requests: HTTP requests in the range of 200-399, such as ‘200 OK’ or 301 Redirects.
  • Error Requests: HTTP requests ≥ 400, such as 404 Not Found or 503 Internal Server Errors.

Maximize successful requests and check access and error logs if you see a higher rate of error requests.

Conclusion #

The StackCP CDN comes free with all web hosting and Managed Hosting on a VPS at CP CLOUD HOSTING, providing you with powerful tools to enhance your website’s performance and gain deeper insights into your traffic.
