Email Migration Tool #

To migrate your emails and mailboxes to StackCP, you can use our in-house Email Migrations tool. This will allow you to migrate your IMAP, Gmail, and Outlook mailboxes into StackCP.

Setting Up Your Mailbox #

Before you begin, ensure you have set up the mailboxes within StackCP using the same password as currently used by the mailbox. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Log in to StackCP:
   • Go to Manage Hosting > Options / Manage > Email Migration.
2. Enter Migration Details:
   • Enter the relevant credentials and select Sync.
     • Hostname: This is the mail server hostname from which you are syncing your emails. If unsure, ask your previous hosting provider.
     • Username: The mailbox you are syncing.
     • Password: The password of the mailbox at your previous host and the newly created mailbox at StackCP.
   Note: Ensure that the mailboxes are set up within StackCP using the same password as currently used by the mailbox.
3. Complete the Sync:
   • Once the sync is complete, your emails will be migrated to StackCP’s email hosting.

Troubleshooting #

My Email Migration Has Failed, What Should I Do? #

If the sync fails to start, it is likely due to incorrect credentials. Confirm that the password and hostname are correct by logging into the previous host’s webmail.

Can I Use the Email Migration Tool More Than Once for the Same Mailbox? #

Yes, you can use the tool as many times as needed. This is useful if you’ve recently switched MX records so mail now routes to StackCP. Running the migration again will only migrate new emails, preventing duplicates.

Does the Email Migration Tool Move or Copy Emails? #

The tool copies emails and folders to StackCP, meaning no emails are removed from your old mail server/mailboxes.

Can I Only Perform One Mailbox Migration at a Time? #

Yes, only one mailbox migration can be performed at a time per package.

Where Can I Find My Hostname? #

Your previous host can provide your hostname. Commonly, it is mail.yourDomain.com.

DNS Changes #

It is strongly recommended to change the DNS to StackCP after the email migration is complete to prevent any emails from getting lost during the process.
