Custom DNS #

When creating or migrating a package into StackCP, it gets assigned our default DNS settings to ensure all services function correctly. However, if you need to migrate a package with custom DNS records, you should add these records before pointing the nameservers to StackCP for a seamless transition.

Adding Custom DNS Records #

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Login to StackCP:
   • Access your StackCP account and log in.
2. Locate Your Package:
   • Find the package you have migrated.
3. Manage DNS:
   • Select the “Manage DNS” option.
4. Add Custom DNS Records:
   • Enter any custom DNS records you want to keep. Refer back to your previous host’s DNS settings to ensure accuracy.

Important Custom DNS Records #

MX Records:

• Mail Exchange (MX) records are the most common custom DNS records you might want to preserve. Ensure you add these before switching the nameservers to maintain uninterrupted email service.

Example:

• If your previous host has MX records like mail.example.com, make sure to add these exact records in StackCP.

Transferring Domains to StackCP:

• Save money on domain renewals by transferring your domains to StackCP. Nameservers will update simultaneously with the transfer.
